The Icelandic Embassy in Beijing is searching for an energetic and organized person with a positive attitude for a position as locally employed Visa Officer to start working as soon as possible.
Job Description
As a visa officer your work will primarily consist of handling visa applications from Chinese citizens wishing to travel to Iceland.
The visa officer's duty is to receive visa applications, check all relevant information provided by applicants, conduct investigations on validity of documents, interview applicants, communicate with relevant parties in Iceland and China, write reports and recommend approvals or rejection of applications.
During a normal working day, the visa officer may expect to register application information into the Embassy´s IT system, make telephone calls to banks, employers, and numerous other references put forward by the applicants, maintain communication with institutions in Iceland and service providers in China.
As a visa officer you will need to demonstrate sound judgement and ability to handle complex Schengen rules.
Qualifications

- Relevant higher education
- Good language skills, Chinese and English. Knowledge of Icelandic language is an advantage, but not a requirement
- Schengen visa processing experience or similar
- Experience from working in a cross-cultural environment
- Assertive personality and ability to maintain good manners and a smile in difficult situations.
