2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics are now underway. The Embassy of Iceland in Beijing has been following the participation of Team Iceland at these Winter Olympics with great interest and given consular assistants when needed and possible.

Due to the Covid-19 situation in China and local infection prevention measures, direct contact with the team has been impossible and all participants are in ´closed bubbles´ within the Olympic venue areas. Five Icelanders are among the competitors. They are Hólmfríður Dóra Friðgeirsdóttir, Isak Stianson Pedersen, Kristrún Guðnadóttir, Snorri Einarsson, and Sturla Snær Snorrason. Two will be competing in their first Olympic games. The Embassy congratulates them on their well-earned accomplishments.

Last weekend, the Ambassador, Mr. Thorir Ibsen, and his wife Mrs. Dominique A. Ibsen, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
