Ambassador of Iceland in Poland presented his credentials
The ceremony took place at Belweder, the residence of the President of the Republic of Poland. Before the ceremony, the Ambassador greeted the soldiers with the words "Heill ykkur, hermenn" - "Heil Soldiers" in Icelandic. In the palace, he met with representatives of the Chancellery of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and had a short private audience with President Andrzej Duda.
After the ceremony at the Belweder Palace, the Ambassador, his wife and assistant, Jan Hernik, were taken to Plac Defilad in Warsaw. The ceremony ended with the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The wreath, as was customary, had the national colors of Iceland. Polish soldiers also introduced the Ambassador and his companions to the history of this special place.
