Ambassador Thorir Ibsen visited Yantai city in Shandong Province
On May 16th, Ambassador Thorir Ibsen visited Yantai city in Shandong Province with the team of Iceland’s Carbon Recycling International and partners.
During the visit, Ambassador Thorir Ibsen met with Mr. Jiang Cheng, Party Secretary of Yantai City, Shandong Province. One significant aspect they discussed was the important role that Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) can play in achieving sustainable development and adopting low-carbon industrial practices. CCUS offers an effective solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from industrial processes by capturing CO2 and storing it underground or utilizing it in other industrial applications.
Mr. Jiang Cheng pointed out that Yantai and Iceland have a long-standing and increasingly close economic, trade, and cultural exchanges. The common goal and the most promising area of cooperation between the two sides is the development of a green and low-carbon economy for the future.
Ambassador Thorir Ibsen stated that Iceland is willing to exchanges and cooperation with Yantai and will continue to deepen practical cooperation in areas such as clean energy, marine fisheries, culture, and tourism. Efforts will be made to achieve complementary advantages and win-win development in a broader range.
