Yesterday, William Freyr Huntingdon-Williams, DHoM, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Sino-Icelandic Geothermal Training Programme, a three-week intense professional training course on the use and utilization of geothermal energy in China. The ceremony took place in Beijing at the Sinopec Management Institute. The programme is organized by the Sino-Icelandic Geothermal Research and Development Center and co-organized by Sinopec Star Co, Ltd. At the Opening Ceremony, William gave an address where he reiterated the importance of the cooperation between Iceland and China over the years in geothermal energy development and climate change mitigation. Deputy Director Ingimar G. Haraldsson from GRÓ Geothermal Training Programme (under the auspices of UNESCO) in Iceland, also attended and gave an address. Later that day the Deputy Director gave a lecture on Iceland´s experience and the workings of GRÓ and its Geothermal Training Programme.
