The Inauguration Ceremony of the CO2 to Methanol Plant of the Jiangsu Sailboat Petrochemical

Ambassador Thórir Ibsen addressed the inauguration ceremony of the CO2 to methanol plant of the Jiangsu Sailboat Petrochemical in Lianyungang. The plant was designed by the Icelandic company Carbon Recycling International based on its Emissions to Liquids (ETL) technology. Carbon Recycling International has with its local joint venture partner MFE, facilitated the project execution, provided design, engineering and technology license for the CO2-to-methanol process along with key proprietary equipment and related services. When in full operation, the plant will save more than 1 million tons of CO2 emissions from the petrochemical plant a year. CCUS technologies are a significant step towards the transition to a more circular economy, and Icelandic companies continue to work with Chinese industries to meet the goal of China to reach a peak in CO2 emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060.
