Minister of Industries

Hanna Katrín took office as Minister of Industries on 21 December 2024.

She has been a member of Alþingi for Viðreisn Liberal Reform Party since 2016.

Hanna Katrín was born in Paris, France, on 4 August 1964. Spouse: Ragnhildur Sverrisdóttir. Daughters: Elísabet and Margrét.

She completed a matriculation examination from Menntaskólinn í Reykjavik in 1985, a BA degree in Philosophy and Economics from the University of Iceland 1999 and an MBA from the University of California Davis 2001. 

Journalist at Morgunblaðið 1990–1999. Chairman of the Committee of the Ministry of Education, ÍSÍ and UMFÍ on policy development in girls' and women's sports 1996–1997. Chairman of the Committee of the Ministry of Education and the Directorate for Gender Equality on Women and the Media 1998–1999. Member of the Ministry of Education's working group on the development of sports policy 2005–2006. Managing Director of Eimskip's Communications Division 2005-2006. Member of the Minister of Education's Committee on the Act on Public Universities 2007–2008. Part-time lecturer at Reykjavik University 2007–2009. Assistant to the Minister of Health 2007–2009.
