Department of Personal Rights

The responsibilities of the Department of Personal Rights include family and children's affairs, foreign nationals, the Icelandic National Church, religious organizations and groups following non-religious convictions, and personal data protection. The department drafts legislation and amendments to laws and rules based upon them, provides direction and information for other public authorities and citizens, as well as handling a wide variety of administrative tasks included in its functions.
