Foreign Minister meets Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation
The Icelandic Foreign Minister, Mr Össur Skarphéðinsson, met last Tuesday with Mr Alexander Grushko, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation in Reykjavík. The two ministers discussed the relations and cooperation of Iceland and Russia, especially in terms of international trade, the High North and energy affairs. They also discussed the relations between Russia and NATO and the unfolding situation in the Middle East, Syria, Iran and Palestine. High on the agenda however, was the recently concluded Northern Dimension Senior Officials Meeting, held in Reykjavík on 8 November. Deputy Foreign Minister Grushko attended the meeting on behalf of the Russian Federation, which was chaired by Iceland.
