Overseas absentee voting for the Local Government Elections
Overseas absentee voting for the Local Government Elections of 31 May 2014 will begin on 7 April and ballots can be cast in all Icelandic embassies abroad and in the offices of consuls-general in New York, Winnipeg, Nuuk and Torshavn (Faroe Islands). Absentee votes may also be cast by arrangement with Iceland‘s honorary consuls abroad; see the accompanying list (http://www.iceland.is/files/utankjorfundar2014.pdf).
Voters who intend to cast their ballots in consulates are advised to contact consuls ahead of arriving in the consulate to vote. It is assumed that voters have acquainted themselves with the lists of candidates and their ballot letters. Practical information on the elections can be found on the website www.kosning.is (http://www.kosning.is/).
Furthermore, it is brought to the attention of voters that each voter is responsible for posting his/her own ballot or making other arrangements to ensure it is received by the electoral commission in time.
