New Icelandic Government takes office

A Government consisting of the Social Democratic Alliance, the Liberal Reform Party and the People‘s Party took office today. The new government is headed by Kristrún Frostadóttir, the chairman of the Social Democratic Alliance.

The Ministers of the Government:

  • Prime Minister is Kristrún Frostadóttir, chairman of the Social Democratic Alliance.
  • Minister for Foreign Affairs is Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, chairman of the Liberal Reform Party.
  • Minister of Social Affairs and Housing is Inga Sæland, chairman of the People‘s Party.
  • Minister of Industries is Hanna Katrín Friðriksson, the Liberal Reform Party.
  • Minister of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education is Logi Einarsson, the Social Democratic Alliance.
  • Minister of Justice is Þorbjörg Sigríður Gunnlaugsdóttir, the Liberal Reform Party.
  • Minister of Education and Children is Ásthildur Lóa Þórsdóttir, the People‘s Party.
  • Minister of Transport and Local Government is Eyjólfur Ármannsson, the People‘s Party.
  • Minister of the Environment, Energy and Climate is Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson, the Social Democratic Alliance.
  • Minister of Health is Alma D. Möller, the Social Democratic Alliance.
  • Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs is Daði Már Kristófersson, the Liberal Reform Party.

The leaders of the Social Democratic Alliance, the Liberal Reform Party and the People‘s Party today signed an agreement on the platform for the Coalition Government.
