Seismic activity in Reykjanes
Icelandic Civil Protection authorities have declared a state of emergency following increased seismic activity in Reykjanes Peninsula. During last night the town of Grindavik was evacuated as a preventive measure.
The situation is being closely monitored by the Government of Iceland in collaboration with the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management and the Icelandic Met Office and local authorities.
As of 11 am November 11 there have been no signs of volcanic eruptions in the Reykjanes Peninsula.
There are no disruptions to flights to and from Iceland and international flight corridors remain open.
