The Minister of Finance accepts an invitation to serve
on the advisory board of the Rosenberg Institute

Mr. Geir H. Haarde, Icelandic Minister of Finance, has accepted an invitation to serve on the advisory board of the Rosenberg Institute of Global Finance at Brandeis University. The Institute addresses a key issue in international finance each year by commissioning research studies from faculty members at Brandeis and other institutions, by scheduling talks by visiting experts, by offering new courses, and by organizing a major annual conference. The Institute is committed to connecting GSIEF's and other academic research with the insights of business and policy leaders, and to use research to inform major global business and policy decisions. The Rosenberg Institute is named in honor of Dr. Barbara Rosenberg, the prominent educator and Brandeis alumna, and Richard Rosenberg, former chairman and CEO of Bank of America.
The board's first meeting was held in Boston yesterday and in connection with the inauguration of the Rosenberg Institutue, its first major symposium Financing Global Aging is held today. Mr. Haarde was among the main speakers and discussed the state of Iceland's pension system at a luncheon today.
The advisory board of the Rosenberg Institute is comprised of fourteen distinguished members among them the deputy prime minister of Bulgaria, the deputy finance minister of Canada and various global business leaders.
Mr. Haarde is a Brandeis alumni, class of '73.
