First MoU signed with Oil India Ltd.
The first MoU between Icelandic partners and Oil India Ltd. was signed at the Embassy of Iceland on 11th May 2023. The MoU facilitates a collaboration in exploration and development of geothermal energy in India in cooperation with Iceland Geo Survey (ÍSOR). This cooperation has its background in the establishment of an Iceland India Task Force on geothermal cooperation decided upon by the Prime Ministers of the countries at their meeting in Copenhagen in May 2022. The Chairman from the Icelandic side is Mr Benedikt Höskuldsson Special Representative for Climate.
On behalf of Iceland Geo Survey (ÍSOR) the MoU was signed by Mr. Ranjit Kumar, Director of Techon Consulting Engineers, and for Oil India Ltd. by Mr. Saloma Yomdo, Executive Director for Exploration and Development. Present were Ambassador Guðni Bragason and Dr Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director of Oil India Ltd., as well as the board of Directors. On-line participants included Mr Árni Magnússon Chairman of the Board of ÍSOR and Mr Benedikt Höskuldsson Icelandic Chairman of the Task Force on Geothermal Cooperation, as well as engineers and experts from ÍSOR and VERKÍS Engineers. Present were also Mrs Kristín Anna Tryggvadóttir Deputy Chief of Mission and Mr Rahul Chongtham Trade Counselor of the embassy of Iceland.
