Out of country voting
Out of country voting for the national referendum on the so-called Icesave issue on 6 March 2010, will begin on 28 January 2010. Voters can cast their ballots in all Icelandic embassies, permanent missions to international organisations, in consular offices or in the offices of honorary consulates, all in all 235 locations in 84 countries. See the list of offices here.
Voters are advised to contact honorary consuls ahead of arriving in the consulate to vote.
Information on the referendum can be found on: www.kosning.is/english
The voter is responsible for, and bears the cost of, sending his/her vote. Voters should be advised to vote early as the vote is not valid unless it arrives at the polling station in the voter’s electoral district in Iceland before closing of the election session on Election Day 6 March. It is recommended that the envelope be sent by registered air mail.
