Nordic-Baltic Business Conclave in New Delhi.

Iceland participation in the Nordic-Baltic Business Forum in New Delhi on 22 - 23 November 2023 was a success. The Conclave was organised by the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) with around 500 participants. The Embassy in New Delhi was responsible for organising the Icelandic participation. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar opened the gathering and mentioned amongst other things, cooperation with the Iceland on geothermal energy and projects in this field. Mr Piyush Goyal Minister of Commerce discussed free trade issues. The Indian government is now putting considerable emphasis on strengthening political and commercial co-operation with the Nordic and Baltic countries, as trade has grown significantly. There are currently around 700 companies operating from NB8 in India. Special Envoy on Climate Benedikt Höskuldsson said private sector investments were extremely important in achieving the objectives of the climate agreement. Ambassador Guðni Bragason said co-operation on green energy is a priority for the Embassy and encouraged more participation of women in the economy and trade.
