Össur Skarphéðinsson attends a NATO meeting of Ministers of Defence and of Foreign Affairs in Brussels
Today, Mr. Össur Skarphedinsson, Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended a joint North Atlantic Council in Foreign and Defence Ministers Session in Brussels. The agenda covered the new Strategic Concept, which the NATO Secretary General presented in a draft. The meeting also covered final preparations for the NATO Summit, which will be held on 19-20 November in Lisbon, Portugal.
At the joint meeting, Ministers discussed the new Strategic Concept and missile defence. Thereafter, Foreign Ministers discussed partnerships and the need for a comprehensive approach in NATO-led operations. Finally, the Permanent Representative of Iceland to NATO attended the Defence Ministeriall Session, where a new Command Structure and Agencies Reform were amongst the topics.
