Nordic Prime Ministers joined by Prime Minister of Canada at annual meeting
On June 25-26th, the annual summer meeting of the Nordic Prime Ministers will be held in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a special guest. One of the main topics for discussion will be societal resilience but this year marks 50 years since the 1973 volcanic eruption in Vestmannaeyjar. The Nordic countries played a significant role in the reconstruction efforts following the eruption.
The Prime Ministers of all five Nordic countries are invited to the meeting along with leaders of Åland Islands, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers will also participate in parts of the meeting. Iceland holds the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2023.
