Ambassador Guðni Bragason and DCM Sigþór Hilmisson met with Parshottam Kodahai Rupala, Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, in his residence in New Delhi at the end of October to discuss Icelandic Indian Fisheries Cooperation. This was the first high-level meeting on fisheries since the COVID-pandemic began. The participants discussed the follow-up on the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Fisheries Development, signed in September 2019 during the official visit of the President of India to Iceland. This included Indian cooperation with the UNESCO Fisheries Traning Programme in Iceland and the Icelandic Ocean Cluster. The Ambassador also brought up new and innovative fisheries products, such healthcare and cosmetic products, fish leather, fish oil products, advanced seafood processing technology and wastage utilization.
