Last Friday the Embassy of Iceland was illuminated in an orange glow in support to ending violence against women. The Embassy building will remain illuminated so for the next weeks. According to the “world health organization” 1 in 3 women worldwide have been subjected to physical and or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. Women’s rights are vital part of Iceland’s foreign policy, and we will continue to work on the issue in corporation with our Chinese partners. Now, more than ever, it is imperative to direct our attention to ending violence against women, safeguard their rights and help victims.
