Mr Guðmundur Árni Stefánsson presented his credentials to the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, as Ambassador of Iceland on 20 September 2018. Ambassador Stefánsson is the fifth Ambassador of Iceland with residence in India since the Embassy was established in New Delhi in 2006. Mr. Stefánsson's previous positions in the Icelandic Foreign service include Ambassador of Iceland to Sweden, also accredited to Albania, Cyprus, Syria and Kuweit. Ambassador of Iceland to the United States, also accredited to Argentina, Brazil & Mexico and Ambassador at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Reykjavík representing Iceland at the Council of the Baltic Sea States and the Barents Euro-Arctic Council. Ambassador Stefánsson is married to Jóna Dóra Karlsdóttir.
