Meetings with ICIMOD and CNI in Nepal.
During his visit to Nepal Ambassador Guðni Bragason had meetings with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). Attending were also Trade Counselor Rahul Changtham, Honorary Consul of Iceland in Nepal Vidushi Rana and Mr Prasoon Dewan, Chairman og the Indo Icelandic Business Association.
At ICIMOD Ambassador Gudni Bragason and the delegation was received by Director General Mr. Pema Gyamtsho and his colleagues at the headquarters in Lalitpur. Mr. Gyamtsho gave a presentation on the role and activities of ICIMOD in making this critical region greener, more inclusive and climate resilient. The Hindu Kush Himalaya mountain range covers Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan. Mr. Gyamtsho also mentioned ICIMOD‘s association with the Arctic Circle Assembly in Iceland through its participation in the Arctic Circle and Third Pole conferences. Discussed were also the geothermal possibilities in Nepal.
At the CNI the Icelandic delegation had a meeting with Mr. Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, President of CNI and the CNI board. The potential areas for collaboration between Icelandic and Nepalese industries were highlighted at the meeting including in tourism, healthcare, ICT and geothermal energy.
