Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Iceland China Free Trade Agreement

On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Iceland and China, the Embassy of Iceland and the Icelandic Business Forum co-hosted a Business Roundtable to discuss the experience of the agreement.

Since the Free Trade Agreement came into force, Iceland and China have witnessed a year-on-year steady increase in bilateral trade, as well as diversification of both trade in goods and services. On the basis of this success, an upgrade of the agreement is being considered to better reflect better the trade and commerce between the two countries.

The Business Roundtable was held at the Embassy of Iceland to gather input from Icelandic companies and clients in China about their experience of the agreement and their suggestions of what can be done better. As actual stakeholders in Icelandic-Chinese trade, the business community has gained invaluable frontline experience of the agreement and know what works, what does not work and what can and needs to be improved so the agreement can better serve their business needs.

The Business Roundtable was attended by Icelandic companies in China, their clients as well as Chinese officials.
