Tourist safety

Iceland has an environment that is often unfamiliar to tourists. The weather can change quickly resulting in challenging and sometimes unadvisable travel and driving conditions.

The Ministry of Culture and Business Affairs supports the activities of Safe Travel through a special agreement with the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue. 

The Icelandic Tourist Board has issued advisory instructions on safety issues for travel agencies and tour operators. (only available in Icelandic).
